The USS Slater is a WWII Destroyer Escort moored on the Hudson River in Albany, NY. (http://www.ussslater.org/) Scouts had the opportunity to take a tour of the ship, eat at the mess deck, and spend the night in crew bunks below deck. They also had free time which they really enjoyed. How often to you get to play “hide and seek” on a WWII ship. In addition, the Scouts went on a five mile hike through the Saratoga National Historical Park.
